Quotes for January 21, 2008

I realize I am repeating these, but given today is the day recognized as Martin Luther King Day; I think it most appropriate that my choice of quotes today, be his.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

  • The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
  • The means by which we live have outdistanced the ends for which we live. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.
  • One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws, but conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.
  • He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it.

More on Martin Luther King.

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.

  1. Considering the man was the biggest plaguerist EVER, and that nothing has been found that he actually said himself, I doubt these are his quotes, but someone else’s. In fact, he was known to have copied his doctorate thesis almost wholly from someone else, yet he was given his doctorate anyway. He was a womanizer, white hater, and took money from the Marxist party. And that is fact!
